Mr. Wes Richardson

RichardsonWes Richardson is the current Minister of Music at First Baptist Church of Lexington and director of bands at Central Davidson Middle School in Lexington, NC. He graduated with a B.M. in music education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and is currently serving as the North Carolina Honors Band 9-10 Clinic Chair.

 

Richardson has held several positions as the brass tech across the Davidson, Guilford, and Randolph Counties, as well as participated in the U.S. Army’s All American Marching Band in 2009. He has served as the UNCG Pep Band’s student conductor and librarian, as well as the Music Director and President of UNCG’s Iota Epsilon chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. Richardson has also performed with the UNCG Wind Ensemble for several years, playing at the American Band Master’s Association and the Collegiate Band Director’s National Conference in 2013. He has also conducted several musicals in the past five years with the Davidson County Summer Youth Theater Program in Lexington, NC. 

 

Superior Ratings

Richardson was awarded the Ed Rooker Encore Award in 2019. The Ed Rooker Encore Awards are recognitions sponsored and presented by the North Carolina Chapter of the American School Band Directors Association to outstanding band directors with less than seven years of experience in the profession to exhibit exceptional leadership and potential in the profession

 

Richardson’s bands have garnered four superior ratings in both Grade III and Grade IV since his tenure as director of bands at Central Davidson.

 

 

He currently lives in Salisbury with his wife, Erin, and his 15 month old son, Tobias.
