Grading

• 50% Major Works: tests, projects, presentations, papers, performances, and other teacher-defined assignments.
• 30% Minor Works: quizzes, group and teacher-led activities, cooperative activities, small scale labs, projects, group work, and other teacher-defined assignments.
• 20% Classwork/Homework: group and teacher-led activities, and other teacher-defined assignments
  
  

Grading Policy

Make-Up Work for Absences (District Requirement)
Students who are absent are expected to make up missed work within 5 school days of returning, in accordance with Board Policy 6.4. Extensions may be granted in extenuating circumstances at teacher discretion.

My Class Policy:

If a student is present when an assignment is given, the assignment is due at the start of class on the original due date and must be submitted upon entering the classroom. If a student is absent on the due date, the assignment is due at the start of class on the day the student returns and must be submitted upon entering the classroom.

Late Work (Non-Attendance)
Late work not related to an absence will not be accepted unless prior approval has been granted.

• Students must request approval for late work prior to the due date; approval is not automatic
• Approval, if granted, is at the teacher’s discretion
• If approved ahead of time, the assignment may be accepted with conditions determined by the teacher
• Late work submitted without prior approval will not be accepted and will result in a zero
• Certain assignments (including major assessments, projects, and in-class work) will not be eligible for approval for late submission

Deadlines & Responsibility
Meeting deadlines is an expected academic responsibility. Students are responsible for managing their time and communicating proactively.
Work not submitted by the stated deadline will result in a zero, except in extenuating circumstances as determined by the teacher.

Extenuating Circumstances
Extenuating circumstances are defined and determined by the teacher on a case-by-case basis and may require documentation when appropriate.

Communication
This policy is communicated at the start of the course and aligns with Davidson County Schools grading procedures.
