Grading Policy
  • Classwork/Homework (4): Will be graded or checked for completion and entered into PowerSchool as classwork or homework.

  • Major Grades (3): Tests and projects.

  • Minor Grades (3): Quizzes and vocabulary assignments.

Late Work Policy

  • Students have 5 days after the due date to submit late assignments -10 points will be deducted for every day it is late. After the 5 days the maximum credit to be received will be 50%. Students may not submit work from a previous quarter for credit. 

  • If a student is absent due to illness, they have 5 days from the day they return to complete and submit all missing assignments.

 
New important Notice: The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in assignments, papers, projects, and exams is prohibited unless explicitly permitted by the instructor. Students must ensure their work is original and consult the instructor if unsure about tool usage.

To create a respectful, safe, and productive learning environment, students are expected to:

  1. Be Respectful

    • Treat classmates, teachers, and school property with kindness and respect.

    • Listen when others are speaking and follow directions the first time they are given.

  2. Be Responsible

    • Come to class prepared with all necessary materials.

    • Complete assignments on time and give your best effort.

  3. Be Engaged

    • Participate in class discussions and activities.

    • Stay on task and avoid disruptions during learning time.

  4. Follow School-Wide Rules

    • Adhere to the CDMS code of conduct, including technology use (no cell phones, airpods or smart watches to be used between 7:45 and 3:05) and behavior expectations.

  5. Take Ownership

    • Ask for help when needed.

    • Take responsibility for your actions and learning.

I graduated from UNC Charlotte with a degree in Political Science and Communication Studies. This is my fourth year teaching at CDMS, and I’m excited to begin another great school year! I look forward to meeting all of our new 7th graders and getting to know each of you.
