English Language Arts: How can I help you?

What Are We Learning for the first few weeks of school (September)?
Your child's academic progress is in PowerSchool. Call CDMS's office if you don't have your code. This is highly recommended!

1. Genre:  Realistic Fiction :  We have read Seventh Grade, Thank You, M'am and Zebra.

2. Literacy Skills :  Fiction Literary Terms - characterization, conflict, developing a plot line.

3. Thematic Unit :  Starting Sept. 23 : The Vietnam Unit Station. This is an intense set of texts including fiction, non-fiction, vocabulary, poems and songs.

4. Interdisciplinary:  We mostly incorporate social studies into our ELA lessons.
CLASSROOM SUPPLIES:
We are ALWAYS using paper towels and tissues so if you happen to be out and see any, grab us a box or roll.  There is a sink in the room where kids can wash their hands and they do often.  Trust me, when over 100 students walk through your room daily, especially during cold and allergy season, we can use a box of tissues in a day or two.
THANKS!

I have a treat box that gets passed every Friday for kids to "buy" items with their earned Spartans. The children prefer candy!  Dum Dums, Smarties, Airheads, fun size chocolate and stuff like that.  You know what snack treats your kid likes.  I appreciate your donations!  THANKS.
