Chorus Information

Classroom Expectations:

1. Be respectful to the teacher and fellow classmates.
2. Arrive on time and prepared for each class.
3. Participate actively and positively in all activities.
4.Take care of class materials and equipment.
5. Communicate any concerns or conflicts with the teacher.

Students not following expectations will be given a warning.  If they are still not meeting expectations, they will receive a seating change and an alternate assignment.  Continued offenses will result in parent’s being contacted and/or the student being sent out of the classroom with an office referral.

I hold high expectations of my students and expect an environment of kindness, respect and participation.  In chorus, we treat each other as a family and work together to create beautiful music and meaningful experiences.

Grading:

  • Attendance will be taken daily and students are expected to make up any missed work from being absent from class.
  • The Davidson County Grading Scale will be used to determine the final letter grade: A = 90-100 B = 80-89 C = 70-79 D = 60-69 F = 59 and below
  • Grades will be given in two categories:

Major (50%): Concert attendance, reflections, singing tests and projects

Minor (30%):  Weekly rehearsal grades, written assignments – this includes chorus notebook checks and worksheets

Classwork/Homework (20%):  Daily warmups and participation
